SPRING 2011 Musical Theatre Final

MUSICAL THEATRE FINAL CHALLENGE: To Create a FLASH MOB PERFORMANCE
THE RULES:
Please choose the following and elaborate/create within groups of 4-6 students.

Venue: for example, Pfluger Bridge, Domain Courtyard, Auditorium Shores?
Style: Broadway rep, contemporary Broadway, rock.
Song Choice: Propose a one song or small medley of 2 or 3 numbers.
Length: Maximum time of 6 minutes.

What is the element of performance and/or surprise that motivates this FLASH MOB?
What is the theme/integral plot of your FLASH MOB PERFORMANCE? What are you trying to express?
Some hints:
Make this timely. (Think about the context of our world, our community, and our current status as students and citizens.)
Make this original and appropriate for a flash mob. (Think about the format encouraging the suspense and engaging the “audience”.)
Stretch yourself beyond your concept of what’s been done and what you’ve seen.

FLASH MOB PROPOSALS WILL BE PERFORMED/DISCUSSED on WEDNESDAY, MAY 18th during MUSICAL THEATRE CLASS. We will select the best of those presented (this may be a combination of more than one proposal) to perform as our final.

Our class resumes on THURSDAY, MAY 19th at 4:30 in the choir room with FLASH MOB PROPOSALS.
Please use your musical theatre time this week to secure appropriate sheet music and/or coordinate within your groups.
Ms. Wissinger will be around during A and B lunches, as well as afterschool, to assist with your proposal concepts and performances.
Please let all know that attendance this Thursday is VITAL as we select our flash mob. Officer nomination forms are on Ms. Wissinger's door and are due May 20th at 4:30pm.
